8pm: Blue-Collar Dogs: Canine MDThe first hour is dedicated to dogs in medical fields.
“Have you seen the commercials with Sarah McLachlan for shelter animals? What do you do? Change the channel, turn your head, or leave the room? While this marketing strategy is effective for fundraising, it doesn’t help get animals adopted. Instead, it leaves viewers with a perception that shelter dogs are sick, abused, and unadoptable. Which is far from the truth,” said Carole Feeny, Co-Founder Project Blue Collar.
(RESCUE ANIMALS/DOGS) Project Blue Collar was founded in hopes of spreading stories about rescue dogs all around the world, and to establish a viable reputation rescues are worthy of instead of playing into the “unadoptable” variety.

Blue Collared CaninesIn early 2009, the Molzahns sold the business to me. My name is Tracy Miller and I’ve been one of those ‘dog people’ my entire life. Before I bought this shop, I spent almost 20 years climbing the corporate ladder in the business world. At the same time, I was getting more and more absorbed in the world of dogs. I was fascinated by new advances in the study of dog psychology and behavior. Most of my free time was consumed with participating, teaching and/or competing in obedience, agility, flyball, and other canine diversions. Drained of spirit and disenchanted with my high-stress corporate career, I began asking myself what I could really do, if I had the nerve. I had been a customer of Scrub a Pup, so when a friend mentioned that it might be for sale, my ears definitely pricked up. I took the leap of faith and took over the shop on April 1, 2009. I changed the name to Blue Collar Doghouse on January 1, 2011, to better encompass the full range of services we offer.Whether you have a rambunctious new puppy, a recently-adopted adolescent, or a dignified older dog who just needs some refinement, Blue Collar Doghouse can help you train yourself to succeed. We offer a rotating, curriculum-based series of beginning obedience classes, as well as intermediate skills and puppy foundation/play group sessions. We also provide individual training sessions for our daycare dogs who need practice or refinement on a specific behavior or skill. At Blue Collar, we love dogs. They aren’t just our profession, but our passion as well. We want your buddy to look and feel their best. So we take great pains to give both our two legged and four legged clients the best experience possible. Do you have a dog with special needs due to age or health? Give us a call and we will place your pup with one of our experienced groom staff members.
