Pet Product Review – Wisdom Panel Insights Dog DNA Test
You can find out more about Wisdom Panel 3.0 dog breed DNA tests, and follow updates on social media for information about events and deals.
The first breed test I ordered was from a company called BioPet Vet, which has since stopped selling them due to a from Mars Veterinary, a division of U.S. candy giant Mars Inc. Aside from dog food and other pet products, Mars sells a breed test called Wisdom Panel — and since it dominated my Google search results, I figured I should give it a try. (Mars also seems to dominate the entire breed-test market now, thanks to its of rival brand Canine Heritage.)
Wisdom Panel's results were significantly different, but also more detailed. The only breed that showed up in both tests was pug, and Wisdom Panel found several new ones — namely Australian cattle dog and chow. It offered more information about Otis' family tree, and while it identified three of his ancestors as "mixed breed," it also listed five of those breeds along with a specific percentage for each.

Dog DNA Tests Reviews: DNA My Dog vs Wisdom Panel vs Embark
Wisdom Panel started with a dog and a dream. Sturmond Jonas felt like he never had an answer when strangers asked him about the breed of his dog, Lance Corporal Barksley. He thought it was some kind of improbably huge pomeranian, but he couldn't know for sure. Jonas knew of plenty of places where he could get his own DNA tested, but when he sent his dog's DNA in, they results were always the same: an angry emoticon and a handwritten note that simply read, "Please stop."
That's when he decided to start up his own dog DNA business. Today, with the help of Wisdom Panel promo codes, coupons, and sales, his team of dog scientists have single-handedly sleuthed out the exact breed of more than 17 billion dogs to within 99.99% accuracy. All of that hard work has paid off. Sturmond Jonas, Lance Corporal Barksley and Wisdom Panel's team of ivy-league-trained scientists have built a name for themselves as the number one dog forensic scientists in the world. Celebrities have even started to take notice, and folks like Christopher Walken, Beyonce, and Dabney Fent are all clients.
But despite the accolades and fame, the greatest reward was finally figuring out Barksley's breed. Turns out he was a golden retriever all along.I'm finally back with the results of the Wisdom Panel Dog DNA Test for my naughty mutt, Harvey. I thought he was DEFINITELY a yellow lab mix...wait 'til you hear the results! Do you think the Wisdom Panel worked or not? P.S. I kept him quarantined for days beforehand, so it was definitely only his DNA! Thanks for watching! xo, JanetYears after dog DNA testing was first introduced, though, it's finally becoming mainstream. Since Mars Veterinary launched its dog DNA test in 2007, Wisdom Panel, the company—owned by Mars, Incorporated—claims to have sold some 400,000 tests—with the latest consumer version selling for $84.99 a pop. Its other major competitor is DNA My Dog—owned by a Canadian firm—which charges $59.99 per test. Both claim to unlock the mysteries of a dog's genes to reveal their breeds.Katie Lytle, a veterinarian with Wisdom Panel, went over their results for Addie with me, pointing out how her traits were a good visual mix of the four breeds they found. In terms of the discrepancy between brands, she said that all of Addie’s Wisdom Panel results were also breeds that DNA My Dog tests for, but ventured that since Addie has two breeds in her that were raised to hunt waterfowl (Lab and English springer spaniel) "if you think about ancestral groups, English setters were in that class as well, so it’s likely that they [DNA My Dog] were identifying the evidence of the group.”
