Students of this class are encouraged to share their training interests and needs so each class is different. Silvia Golz is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and holds professional memberships in: Force Free Trainers of Wisconsin, the Pet Professional Guild and the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Silvia is a mentor trainer for the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training and Behavior where she works with students to help the next generation of trainers learn positive reinforcement training methods. She has been instructing group training classes for pet dogs since 1998 and added private in-home training sessions in 2003. Silvia believes in using only positive training methods while training and encourages you to also be positive, consistent, patient, and fair while working with your own dog. Get your puppy started out on the right paw with this free, completely off leash class! This course will primarily focus on socialization with puppies and people (including children, men, and strangers), good manners, and gentle jaws by introducing bite inhibition. The classes will also cover potty training, crate training, and introduction to the leash. This course teaches you how to send leadership signals to your dog, use positive reinforcement and luring your puppy into positions like sit, down and stand. Another important aspect of this class is teaching your puppy self-control and handling exercises. We offer the Home Manners classes for FREE because national studies show that the majority of dogs given up to shelters are owner-surrendered, misbehaving adolescents. Whether you have a new puppy, adopted dog, or boisterous adolescent, this class is designed to give you information and strategies that will help you deal with problems such as barking, digging, chewing, housetraining, running off, jumping up, and more. We want to help you keep your dog and have a quality relationship. Our motto is "Together For Life!"Every first and third Saturday of the month, SCRAPS offers free dog training classes to the public. You don't have to have gotten your dog from SCRAPS to attend. You and your dog will learn basic commands and the dos and don'ts of dog etiquette.
