PetSmart recalls Grreat Choice dog biscuits
With the recent U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) salmonella investigation involving peanut butter products, PetSmart voluntarily recalled a total of 17 products, including seven varieties of Grreat Choice® dog biscuits sold between August 21, 2008 and January 19, 2009. We're not aware of any confirmed cases of illness related to the recalled products and no traces of salmonella have been found. As North's favorite ingredient in the world, I know he's sad about all the recent news . Since he gets treated to the freshly ground stuff, I know that's safe . . . but, take note, of the PB related recall of PetSmart's "Grreat Choice® Dog Biscuit" products that contain peanut paste made by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). Beginning April 1, new Grreat Choice® dog biscuits will begin returning to PetSmart stores. These products replace those voluntarily recalled in January 2009 and are updated and contain peanut paste from a new source. Our manufacturer has assured us these products are free from the peanut butter product that was the reason for our recent voluntary recall.Prior to the February 2017 recall, Grreat Choice pet food products have been recall-free since January 2009. In January 2009, the FDA issued a recall for several types of Grreat Choice dog biscuits due to potential salmonella contamination. The only other recall occurred in March 2007 and it was issued for over a dozen types of Grreat Choice canned dog food due to melamine concerns.
