Hi-Tek Naturals Dog Food | Review | Rating | Recalls
I would like to see some reviews on Hi-Tek Rations dry dog foods. Including Intimidator and naturals product lines.
Hi-Tek Naturals Grain Free uses several different meat and fish meals, as well as sweet potatoes, peas, and eggs in order to pack in protein. These foods are an excellent choice for dogs with grain allergies, and have received better reviews than Hi-Tek Naturals overall. Hi-Tek Naturals Grain Free earned a sterling 5-star rating from DFA and an estimated nutritional profile of 36% protein, 18% fat, and 39% carbs. These formulas have also earned a 4.6 out of 5 stars through Amazon customer reviews (Chicken Meal and Sweet Potato Formula, $47.38/30 lbs), with many happy customers citing improved energy levels, coat luster, and affordable price point for high-quality food.
I have been buying Hi Tek for a few years. I switched from Blue Buffalo when BB had a recall and never went back. Stools are firm, coats are shiny, dogs are a little overweight, but energetic and healthy otherwise. I buy the chicken meal and rice formula for less active and large dogs. Many thanks to Dog Food Advisor for his reviews.

With my previous dogs I had always been an Iams fan, in fact our 2 English bulldogs lived to be 14 eating nothing but Iams. But with the frenchie we decided to go grain-free, one because it’s just healthier and two because she did have ear infections when we got her (I read that grain allergies can be manifested this way). She’s been ear-infection free since about the first month, has a healthy coat and tons of energy which may be attributed in part to her grain-free diet in general rather than any particular food. Yes trying 4 brands over 7 months might seem silly but we did slowly blend them to transition her each time, and gave ample time to monitor how she did on each. Happy to have found a winner, Hi-Tek lamb & sweet potato. As I posted above, if i change from Shep Dry Dog Food I’d let you know. Well, if you read this thread you will see that Aldi has two different formulas. Now, that is not the case. They seem to be selling the formula rated here and no longer the formula made my Hi-Tek Rations. So, because the formula rated here is inferior to the previous my family has, through trial and error with our dog’s, switched to Rachael Ray Nutrish Just 6 Dog Food. Too, the cost with coupons ( from the RR website ) is about $1/ pound which might interest you if you’re buying Shep for the price. My vet recommended a grain free diet for our dogs and wanting to be sure I was feeding them high quality food I began to really look into ingredients. This site is absolutely wonderful. So many others have only a limited number of brands to compare and many are sponsored by the manufacturers. Also given the situation with so many dog treats being made in China that have been sickening and killing our pets I’ve gone a little nuts in being certain about what I feed and where it came from. I use Hi-Tek Naturals Grain Free as kibble and top with canned Addiction or Evanger’s. I also use Fresh Pet Select rolls. The dogs all love their food. Their coats are soft and sleek, eyes are bright and shiny. I buy only from a small specialty pet shop where the owners are fully versed in all of the products they carry and where they are made. I’m now relieved to know that their food and treats are of the highest quality and absolutely nothing comes out of China. Bravo to DogFoodAdvisor for fact-based unbiased reviews!!Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Hi-Tek Naturals Rice & Chicken Meal Large Breed Formula can make in your dog, please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from his current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Hi-Tek Naturals Rice & Chicken Meal Large Breed Formula until you're feeding Hi-Tek Naturals Rice & Chicken Meal Large Breed Formula exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.
