Our vet recommended Hill's K/D when our dog had early stage renal disease. He ate the food just fine as he was not a picky eater at all. In 3 months time he had 3 episodes of allergies, ears swelling, itchy face. Then he had a pancreatic attack, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. We immediately took him off this food and for the remainder of his life, another 1.5 years, we fed him a home cooked diet. The Vet would never acknowledge that Hill's Science Diet K/D had anything to do with his reaction. I hope this post helps someone, somewhere that is being advised to use this junk food. Please don't.Kidney issues in dogs are not an easy condition to manage, and these pet owners were simply relieved to find that such a food preparation exists. They are thrilled that it not only simplifies feeding, but Hill’s Prescription Diet k/d Renal Health Canned Dog Food has actually helped them improve their dog’s health. However, most of these pet owners have bought this product from their vets, and they are one in saying that those sold on Amazon are very overpriced.I have a German Shepherd. She is 12 years old, the love of my life. She has bad hips and was dehydrated. I took her to the vet they put her on Kennedy Hills. 2 weeks ago she doesn't seem to like the food. I've been opening cans and giving her kibble mixed in a variety for her, so she can be happy. Am two weeks into feeding her a low protein food of KD Hills renal canned dog food. Just opened a can this morning and it had a block on it. Unfortunately, I was feeding a scoop to Herthan. I seen black in the product and already gave it.
