Thanks guys for the advice! I’m avoiding the high carbs to try to keep the cancer risk to a minimum since I read that carbs feed cancers. Besides, who needs all those fillers? I also read that there are noted differences in bloodwork w/ dogs that eat a war diet and high protein grain free diets. The research is showing that the normal reference values for dogs fed raw food diets should probably be revised. I know for a fact my vet is a Science Diet junkie who doesn’t necessarily buy into grain-free so I may be battling him to keep our 3 dogs on this diet. Thank you Mike for looking into Sundancer…I’m gonna try it anyways but will keep checking to see what you think about it!
I’m kind of freaking out. All the foods I look up have some pretty horrific stories about killing tons of dogs. I had all my dogs on Blue Buffalo Puppy and was looking for something better, but reading even the reviews here is confusing. One second Acana/Orijen, Merrick, Annamaet, Fromm (which I’ve found recalls for) are all good and another someone who gives a lot of advice says something to worry me. I just want the best for my dogs without having to break the bank or take HOURS making. Please help! I though Merrick looked promising but now I’m second guessing that from what I’ve read about stuff with the FDA and such. Acana/Orijen is sounding best or even Annamaet? I haven’t found anything really damning for thme.

How do I know I can trust these reviews about Diamond Dog Food
My dog is toy poodle/Papillon mix, is 2 years old, and weighs approx. 6lbs. I am feeding a dry dog food calledNOW for small breed and all ages. It isdistributed by and made in Canada. I am not surewho the manufacturer is but I buy it at a pet store. First few ingredients are de-boned turkey, potatoes, whole dried eggs, peas, flaxseed, apples, canola oil and a whole longlist of other ingredients but is grain free. Can you evaluate the nutritional value of this food? I just got this dog yesterday and am not surewhat to feed. Previous owner was feeding Purina BENEFUL small sized dryfood for small dogs. Going to stop feeding this to my cats! My friends and I were across the bay and almost went by Pet Food Express on the way home and I was trying to tell them about Acana and how it’s one of the top lines that there is. I went to look it up online under Acana dog for them to prove it to them and was shocked at the amount of people that said they had to take their dogs off of that or could not feed them that- that they were having digestion problems, intestinal problems and vomiting since they opened the plant in Kentucky instead of just the Canadian version. When I think back to when my elderly cat stomach started rumbling coincides with when I started them on Acana!…and they have been vomiting more often and I thought maybe she was getting IBS or IBD possibly kidney issues even though her pretty recent/previous tests came out fine?! I was even giving her PepAC! I was about to take her into the vet but I think now I’m just putting them on Taste of the Wild only until I find something even better that works and see if it goes away. By the way people with young Pats have a claim that’s also so it’s not just an elderly thing but I had my neighbor put his cats on it and his older cat has been having issues so I told him to stop using it as well and see what happens. Too bad you put your faith in what you think is a fantastic expensive product and then you see that what you thought was a possible serious health issue could just be this food alone. Be careful, watch for signs – I hope more people read this !
