We left The White Dog Inn with memories of a delightful dining experience and a wonderful Sunday afternoon.
No one can say for sure but for at least 175 years the structure here at The White Dog Bistro has proudly stood its ground just across from the Mathews Court House Square. In the course of those years the structure has worn many hats. The building has been various hotels, home to local legends (including an MGM “Goldwyn Girl”), a day care center and now a rejuvenated inn & bistro.
Lovely traditional pub. Good food and good beer selection. The B&B was beautifully presented with a very comfortable bed. The only criticism I would have is that the shower wasn't great. Apart from that a great stay at the White Dog Inn....
I would recommend this B&B/Pub to anyone visiting the area as it is great value for money!!

A very nice local pub in a lovely village - setting perfect opposite local church. Locally supplied food will certainly return. The white Dog inn is in a pretty little village. Our room was large and the bed was very comfy. The ensuite had bath and shower. Clean and very tidy. Staff were excellent and made us feel very much at home. The food was superb, a very varied menu and all beautifully cooked and presented and not too expensive. The White Dog Inn has lovely features from the outside and looks popular from the car park being full at the time of our arrival. When entering the was a lovely warming feeling and seemed really cosy and friendly place. It took us a minute to get noticed and serviced by a staff member who pointed us to our table. We were asked for drinks and our order. There was no recommendation from any of the staff. I feel like we were forgotten as we were not asked for any more drinks at all during our visit, we had to ask for more and all our empty glasses still remain on the table. I had the scallops which were drowned in a balsamic glaze taking all the lovely natural flavour from them. All the other starters were really good and reasonable prices. Our roasts were big portions and more then we could eat. It seemed very basic and much like a weather-spoons with odd looking plates. Overall staff were pretty poor and good was average but it is a really nice place to go for a drink.
